Right now, Facebook (FB) is the #7 referrer to this site – Google organic is my #1 referrer. I’ll explain more about this information and how I know this in an upcoming post.
When Facebook started changing the way business pages operated, I started falling out of love with this social media tool. But now with the #7 referral slot, slower new FB fan ‘likes’ and less engagement, I decided to rethink my FB strategy and make some changes pronto!
In the past, I grew FB fans by using what I call THE STANDARDS:
-added my url (www.facebook.com/yourmarketingbff) on my email signature.
-included the url on my business cards.
-linked my personal FB profile to my FB biz page.
-added a FB like box on my site. (located on the right hand ‘widget’ side)
-used a picture with my posts to increase reader engagement. Users are more likely to engage if you include a picture, and will generate 53% more likes than an average post.
The standards are still good today – so if you’re not doing these, you should start now!
How To Increase Facebook Engagement.
Blog Post Content Ideas
... so you're never at a loss for writing ideas!
One area in FB that I’m lacking AND am going to fix is… I need to be more friendly, casual, and conversational!
Here’s an exercise I’d like you to do: Look at your last (10) posts on FB – are they friendly, casual, conversational or all business?
I’m 95% all business! And this needs to change in order to increase my FB engagement.
One new strategy I’m going to start is to MIX THINGS UP:
-Add more personal posts; what I’m doing in my everyday life (home/work/play), who I am, what I’m thinking, what I’m doing, etc.
-I love quotes so I’m going to start sharing some of my favorites.
-I love reading so I’m going to share some of the great things I’m reading or have read.
–ASK people for help or to share with all of us.
–Answer more marketing questions. Got a question you’d like to have answered? Feel free to email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
I’m going to start my new FB strategy T.O.D.A.Y! I’ll track the progress and then we’ll discuss the results in say 60 days. Sound like a plan?!
