Modern Sage and Metallic Christmas Home Tour
Hello and welcome to my annual Christmas Home Tour! Not only will I be sharing my own Modern Sage and Metallic Christmas Home Tour, but I’m excited to be sharing a bunch of my friends Christmas homes too (which you’ll find at the bottom of this post).
This is my favorite time of the year! Celebrating Jesus’ birth, the twinkle lights, fresh smell of pine, and family time. I invite you to grab a cup of hot cocoa and scroll down to see some of our home dressed for the holidays.
Enjoy this season because it will be over before you know it!

I’m kicking things off in the main living area… and the most used room in our home! This is the main tv/media room and the first room you see when you walk in the door.
I was originally going to do a slate color this year, but the tree looked a lot like last years, so I decided to make a change last minute to sage. It’s subtle, but oh-so-pretty!
My decor this year is a mixture of greenery, sage, metals, lights, and some touches of nature. Each year I try to do things a little bit differently and this year my focus is on bringing more of the outdoors in. Fresh greens, pine cones and dried oranges. A few tree’s, and lots of candles and sparkle!
I found the perfect sign (and color) with the ‘it’s the most wonderful time of the year’ from hobby lobby.
The hubs built this console to ‘hide’ all the sound system/media gear and it’s the perfect place to lay fresh cedar garland, some pine cones and a few ribbons that match the ones on the tree.
I bought this glitter geo wreath from West Elm at the end of Christmas last year. Did you know that this is the best time to buy for the coming year? This wreath originally retailed for $29, but I snagged it for $7.25!
Oh… and do you see that cute paper tree on the coffee table? Also purchased from West Elm after season – and they are actually ornaments, but I’m using them as decor accents. And the ‘sage’ book? I look for books at Goodwill to match my color scheme as well. (I got this one for $1.25)
I even decorated the side hutch (which houses extra dishes, chargers and cake stands) with a couple sprigs of berries and pine cones. I found this darling 3-church tin set at Walmart this year.
Down the hallway to the kids wing, I added a cozy striped blanket with a vintage truck pillow (I’ve had for years), a mini tree I picked up from Target and scarf to the bench.
I wanted to bring in lots of greenery to the entry way plus lots of cozy and twinkle. And since we don’t have a fireplace, this has become the best place to hang our stockings.
I bought this framed board awhile back from Hobby Lobby and strung a wreath from it. It pairs nicely with the cow print to remind me of my childhood; raising cows and playing out in the cold snow!
Next up is our dining table. I made this sage table runner out of cheesecloth and kelly green rit dye – it’s gorgeous, inexpensive and really easy to make!
I added fresh cedar greenery, pine cones, metallic votive candles and a few other candles for lots of cozy and twinkle.
The kitchen stays true to my minimal nature, plus it’s meant to keep clean and clear for baking and cooking on the daily!
Take your time and enjoy all the beauty this season brings. Don’t let all the decoration overwhelm you! A few touches here and there is all it takes.
I always decorate our bar stools and this year I recycled some old wreaths I had and simply added the pretty sage ribbon!
A little surprise… I changed my kitchen lighting fixtures again. Aren’t they gorgeous? Maybe next year I’ll add a few sprigs of fresh cedar to the tops!
Another DIY I did this year… drying fresh naval oranges to create this years window garland. It’s more of bringing the outdoors in!
I hope you enjoyed my Modern Sage and Metallic Christmas Home Tour! If you want to shop many of the items seen in this post… scroll below. xo

So different from the original plan, but I think I love it even more! xo
Everything is so beautiful Tana!
Thank you Samantha! I love all the cheer and joy you brought to your own home decor… your kids must love it!!!
It’s all so BEAUTIFUL Tana! I especially love your table runner and window garland. So creative! Merry Christmas to you and your “growing!” family.
xoxo
Thank you Shauna! Merry Christmas to you and yours. WHEN it’s time, you’re going to LOVE being a grandma! xoxo
Tana your home looks so beautiful! Your photography is stunning as always! I spied a few of the same items I used in my home, it’s so fun to see how we incorporate things into our own Christmas decor! I used the mini tin churches on my tree! Also, Hobby Lobby is my Jam at Christmas time! I’ve been meaning to try dried oranges and even bought some to do it, then I got busy and the went bad lol. After seeing yours I’m off to purchase more! XO-Jen
I did too! And I love how we can see the same item and use it in different ways. Yes, Hobby Lobby in early October is my go-to (and at 40-50% off and not picked over, yet)! I’m obsessed with the dried oranges!!! My whole home smelled delicious while they were baking. You must do them! … and I love the new lake home, GORG! xo
Oh Tana I just love the fresh garlands in your home. Draped over your cabinets they are just spectacular. Merry Christmas!
Gotta love the Trader Joe’s fresh garlands – they arrive early and at a price I like ($8)! Plus they make the home smell so good. Merry Christmas friend!
I always love your Christmas home tour! Everything is so beautiful! But what I love most is your creativity and frugality!
Awww thx friend! I think the frugal creativity is the best part!!! Well the part that I truly enjoy. Your home looks beautiful all decked out as well. Merry Christmas! xo
Tana! Everything is so lovely! I am especially enamored with what you did to your new media console! You know I love fresh evergreens during the holidays! So fun doing this hop with you and the other talented ladies! XO Holliday
Thanks friend! That console is a long one, but it gives more “room” to decorate, haha. So glad you could join us – your home looks lovely as well! So many amazing details. xoxo
I love the soft colors! Gorgeous!!
Thank you Amanda! Me too… after a year like 2020, I needed “soft” and relaxing. haha
Beautiful! Can you pls give us the link to ball ornaments on the tree (especially the green ones?) thanks!
Hi Karen! I found the green ones at HomeGoods in a “Bella Lux Christmas Collection” (2020) and have not been able to find them ANYWHERE – since I wanted to add more to the tree. The light blue balls + organic linen type balls were purchased from Hobby Lobby (2019), but I saw them there again this year. The wooden balls with white bottoms were purchased from Michael’s (2019). And the mercury ones are linked within the post. XO happy shopping!
So so lovely! You are always such an inspiration Tana – thanks for doing it again! 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely start to the holiday season!
Thx Barbara! I am having a lovely start to the season and I hope the same for you! Merry Christmas. xo
