Small Powder Room – One Room Challenge Week 6

Hello and welcome to Week 6 of the One Room Challenge! This week should have been reveal week, but we were given an extra week due to all of the natural disasters that affected so many over the past month.

If you missed my previous posts on our transitional small powder room remodel, you can catch up on the project here:

This week we finished putting up the floating shelves.

I went with two 24″ long and 2.5″ thick maple shelves – just like the ones seen in this photo by Studio McGee.

I decided to place the first shelf 17” up from the wainscoting and then left an 11.5” space between the second shelf. This would allow plenty of height to add a plant, flowers, jars, etc. on the lower shelf, while leaving the top shelf for larger items.

I am very happy that I went with the maple floating shelves, they are beautiful and the wood next to the wallpaper adds an additional warmth to the space!

We also installed the single light fixture above an oval mirror! I have to be honest, I really, really, really wanted a round mirror, but with the space so small it would have pushed the pedestal sink closer to the toilet. So when it came down to decision time, I decided I rather have the ‘extra free space’ than a round mirror.

This is the chrome light fixture I went with:

Most of the work is done. The white pedestal sink with modern chrome faucet handle  is in place, along with the hand towel holder, and our modern magnesium switches.

I went with the Ara modern single handle chrome faucet by Delta:

But let’s talk about those beautiful modern switches…

Adorne by Legrand collection makes the most gorgeous modern wall plates and switches that I’ve ever seen. We added a wall plate outlet and a combination light switch with fan control. Who’d ever think I’d get excited over switches, haha.

I’m going to make you wait for the reveal next week, but you can see these beautiful switches on display in this modern bathroom below.

I’ll be finishing up all the styling details this week, and then shooting the space for the reveal on Thursday! I can’t wait to show you the full space! Thank you for stopping by.
