Joanna Gaines wrote in her Magnolia Table cookbook introduction…
“A huge part of cooking is owning and enjoying the experience. Similar to my design philosophy about making your space uniquely yours, I want you to feel inspired to personalize these recipes and adjust them for your family’s tastes.”
So that’s what myself and 5 other bloggers have done! We took our favorite recipes from Joanna Gaines cookbook, Magnolia Table and personalized them to our own family’s tastes.
Let’s get started shall we, here’s mine…

Blog Post Content Ideas
... so you're never at a loss for writing ideas!
My recipe variation uses a mayonnaise + siracha sauce, a havarti + mozzarella cheese mix on sourdough bread. You can make my sandwich variation grilled on a cooktop (like Joanna’s), but I prefer using our panini grill.
Everyone in my family likes a bit of a ‘kick’ to our sandwiches and that’s why I’ve created a mayonnaise + sriracha spread.
I love that havarti cheese has a buttery aroma and taste, while mozzarella has a unique stretchability. By combining these two cheeses together, you get the best of both worlds!
You’ll find my recipe at the bottom of this post, but first let me share a few other Magnolia Table inspired recipes. Be sure to visit the links and comment on which is your favorite recipe!

Don’t all of these Magnolia Table recipes inspired by Joanna Gaines look amazing?! As promised, here’s my grilled havarti, mozzarella, tomato & basil sandwich recipe.
Grilled Havarti, Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil Sandwiches
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 4 Tablespoons Sriracha hot chili sauce
- 4 slices Havarti cheese
- 4 slices Mozzarella cheese
- 2 vine ripened tomatoes cut into a total of 8 slices
- Leaves from 1 small bunch of basil torn
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- Olive oil
Mix the mayonnaise and sriracha in a bowl together.
Heat panini grill to a medium-high heat, until hot.
Brush some olive oil on the outer slices of each sourdough bread.
On each of 4 slices of bread (the non-olive oil coated side), spread with mayo/sriracha sauce and then layer 1 slice of Havarti cheese, 2 tomato slices, a scattering of basil leaves, and 1 slice of Mozzarella cheese. Place the remaining bread slices on top of each (with the olive oil side facing out).
Toast the sandwiches until nicely browned and the cheese is melted, 2-5 minutes.
Slice each sandwich in half and serve immediately.
From one busy lady (and momma) to another, I hope you enjoy all of these Joanna inspired recipes.
