{Marketing Mistake} Everybody is Your Customer

Mistake #2: Thinking that EVERYBODY is Your Customer

I was coaching a very funny and talented salon owner and I asked her a very simple question…

“Who is your target customer?”

“Tana, my customer is anyone who breathes, has hair and money.”

I have to be honest – I laughed out loud and said, “I think that we should narrow that down just a tad bit!”

Are you making this “Everybody is my Customer Mistake?”

If this is you, trust me, you are not alone.

I want you to know that you don’t need every customer in your area. What you need are the BEST CUSTOMERS for you!

If you want to make the kind of money that you’ve always dreamed of then you need to Focus on a Specific group of people who:

  • You enjoy working with.  Note: this is typically someone just like you!
  • Are loyal to you (and not easily swayed by competitors’ products and prices).
  • Has a wide sphere of friends.
  • See you as the expert in your field.
  • Will be a Raving Fan (and refer lots of new biz to you)
  • Are best suited to you, your products and services.

Soooooo –

If you’re young, hip and trendy with a business in an area that is young, hip, trendy and full of young musicians and artists. This should be your image and the specific group you should be focusing on.

By simply focusing your attention and energy on a specific group (or groups) of people that best suit you and your business image…you will see that you start having a lot more fun, having a lot more traffic, and having a lot more higher bank deposits.

So there you have it!

Not sure who the best customers (specific groups) are for you? Week #2 of the Bootcamp ‘Know Who YOU Want to Attract’ is all about identifying who is and who isn’t the ideal customer for you…and what makes you the PERFECT solution to their problems.
