Is Blogging Dead?

Is blogging dead starting a blog in 2021

No, blogging isn’t dead, it’s just different from what it was a few years ago.

Blogging used to be more about community. Blogs were where people ‘hung out’, where they spent their time, where they commented and shared.

Back when social media wasn’t mainstream, successful blogs had a targeted audience that large companies and brands wanted to get in front of.

And a large portion of marketing dollars from companies and brands went to bloggers via sponsored posts, brand ambassadorships and ads.

So what happened?

Social media started to shift the blog community drastically.

Communities were now being formed on social media and those bloggers that didn’t pivot along with the change, saw a decline in comments, traffic and income.

Is Blogging Relevant and Profitable Today?

Yes, blogging is relevant and can be quite profitable today. It’s just different.

Blogging is no longer about community, it’s about EDUCATING!

Today’s successful blogs teach to a focused niche, a small targeted audience, on how to do or accomplish a specific thing.

As long as you are educating readers and bringing them quality tips, advice and tutorials, you’ll also be able to monetize it fairly simply.

Did you know…

We are in what is known as the information age… and over $335 million is spent on online education every day! No, that’s not a typo — $335 million is spent on online education every day!!!

So if you’re a blogger and you’re not educating your audience, you’re missing out financially… big time!

Today’s successful bloggers have an even higher income potential than past bloggers. Popular income streams have shifted from ads and sponsored posts to:

  • digital products
  • online courses
  • information products
  • virtual classes
  • online memberships
  • specialized services
  • affiliate marketing

The key is to reach a targeted niche group of people, not a broad audience, and cover one or two topics.

Want to have a successful, money-making blog today?

Become a ninja (a person who excels in a particular skill or activity) at something. Now is the time to use your blog to teach others what you know.

If you’re not already, start thinking in terms of a tiny niche AND one thing you can create to educate and sell to your focused niche online.

Blogging isn’t dead, it’s income potential is higher than ever!

  1. Excellent observation Tana! You have such a great way of saying things so they make real sense and get right to the point. THANK YOU! I’m going to make some adjustments! 🙂 Hope you’re safe and well down there – take care and thanks again!

  2. I came across your website and the article title caught my eyes. Thinking about it, it’s so true. They keep telling to update posts with advice rather than personal stories, taking away that 1% of personality from blogs and making creators sound like robots if we want to be successful. I don’t like it at all. ???? I still try to add a bit of personality when I can. I read older posts from bloggers and they are so much fun to read, even if it is a personal story. I noticed when doing giveaways and telling viewers to come comment on blog or answer question to enter the giveaway, is one chance to feel like one big family again. 🙂

    1. That’s where bloggers need to remember to write towards educating readers, but also encompass their personal stories along with the post. You never want to lose your voice and individuality!

  3. So glad to find your blog. Such helpful posts. I was interested in learning how to add a graphic banner to my side bar, I can’t seem to find that post. Thanks, Mimi
