MARKETING is more important than the MASTERY of (place your area of expertise here).
You can be the best consultant, designer, or soap maker, or have the best products in the world, but if you’re not good at getting the WORD out…And getting people to RESPOND, you will not succeed in your business.
Marketing gets the phone to ring and then you do your job from there.
Be seen as a RESOURCE
When someone perceives you as a VALUE to them, they will become your biggest fan and your largest source for referrals!
Wherever you go; at the gym, in the grocery store, in line at Starbucks…you’re in the relationship business.
I’ve built a lot of relationships over the years and it’s astounding how much money has been generated from these relationships.
I truly believe in the theory of Six Degrees of Separation: That everyone in the world is somehow connected through a chain of six people. And, I have discovered that it is, indeed, a small world. (Facebook is a good example of this)
You know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone. And it’s a great way to generate WOM (word of mouth) and referrals!
When you get some publicity – make certain EVERYONE hears about it.
Use it in all of your marketing…place an “as seen on” in your emails, on postcards, on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, website, etc. And do this for a good year or so. This is more valuable to you than the day the show aired or the magazine issue that came and went.
When asked a question, never waiver. Answer strong. People watching or listening to you will believe you and this will equal sales.
Don’t let someone tell you that you can’t do something!
My Dad told me that I could do and be whatever I wanted to and nobody is going to tell me differently. When one door or opportunity closes, open another one. Don’t give up, follow your passion and believe in yourself.
