A Modern Mixed-Metal & Blush Christmas Home Tour

|

Merriest Christmas everyone! We are only a few weeks away from one of the most anticipated days of the year! This year has gone by so incredibly fast! So much has changed in one short year! From transitioning this blog from business all the time to business and lifestyle (home décor, home projects, recipes and inspiration), settling into our new home, to completing the How To Start A Blog ebook, this year had been one of the busiest, but one of my favorites! 2017, you’ve been a fun ride! And I want to thank all of you that transitioned with me, worked with me, bought my book, sent emails and left comments… I read and appreciate every single one of you!

Shall we move on to my very first Christmas Home Tour? I feel like a newbie, even though I’ve been blogging forever (since June 2011)!

Like every year, I’ve kept the Christmas décor quite simple, but it makes such an impact. Simple and clean, with a “less is more” styling nature is always my foundation.

Welcome to my Modern Mixed-Metal & Blush Christmas Home Tour!

I’m a minimalist so I don’t have a ton of stuff, nor want a ton of stuff that I would have to store 11 months out of the year! With this in mind, I have a lot of white and then simply add a color or two with inexpensive balls and ribbon (which I buy on sale) to easily change things up each year.

This year I decided on a modern mixed-metal & blush Christmas color scheme. I love the greens, mixed with this years added touches of gold, bronze and blush – I think it’s probably one of my favorite color combinations to date!

Side Note: I’m very frugal – the hubs says I’m cheap, but trust me cheap is different! I get EXTREMELY excited when I get things at a reduced price or for free, like real pine trimmings from Lowe’s every year (my local Lowe’s has a huge bin and they let me have as many as I want FOR FREE! And I’m sure yours does too. Love me some Lowe’s!)

I pull out my stash of white boxes and typically save a box or two from my hubs many Amazon Prime deliveries, haha. I wrap the boxes and tie a ribbon on them – instant pretty packages done!

Remember those free pine trimmings I was talking about from Lowe’s? This year they landed on my kitchen table, where I then added (3) white trees – equally spaced, it’s the website designer in me – and (2) mixed metal candle votive holders to make a modern mixed-metal centerpiece.

Adding touches of decor with natural greenery from outside, brings in a gorgeous small and extra-festive touch.

My office sits to the right of our kitchen table, behind the white modern barn doors, so I thought real boxwood wreaths (these are actually dried and re-used each year) with ribbon were perfect additions.

I love how we have an open concept home with connecting living room and kitchen. So of course, my bar stools needed to be decorated too. I made three little wreaths, tied them with ribbons to hang from the backs – I think it’s my favorite simple look!

I enjoy baking (remember my Holiday Eggnog Layer Cake here), so I have a number of cake stands. I decided this one with a wooden base and blush feet was perfect to house ‘snow’ (aka extra fine buffalo snow flurries that I bought in a bag), a silver deer ornament (yes – you can use ornaments as décor) and three gold trees (which are also considered ornaments or used in those mini villages). Simple, yet perfect, don’t you think?!

My Martha Stewart moment came when I grabbed some of those free pine trimmings, a couple sprigs of white balls and more ribbon to create this one-of-a-kind modern Christmas range hood decoration! Psst: I used a command strip and fishing line to hang it in place!

Even my kitchen rosemary plant was decorated with ribbon and bells!

As you can see, a little goes a long way!

I’m now thinking I should have started at the entryway, but my focal point is always the tree – so I guess that’s why I started with the tree, haha.

The entryway is one of my favorite spaces in our home – mostly because you can see my new wall mural to the left (in the powder bathroom remodel seen here) and then look out our 12 foot slider door straight ahead to the newly completed pool and backyard (a future tour for sure).

We currently do not have a fireplace, nor a mantle, so I decided to use my entryway table console to hang the stockings. Again, these are white stockings I’ve had and simply added my colored ribbon and bells.

From the entryway is the heart of our home! So adding a Christmas winter wonderland touch was a must.

Simple little things, like elements from nature, color balls and ribbons, are my favorite ways to decorate for Christmas. From our living room to the kitchen, to my office space and even our entryway – there is always room for Christmas decor!

Hope these Modern Mixed-Metal & Blush Christmas photos inspire your own Christmas decor! Thanks for visiting our 2017 Christmas home tour!
